Introducción
En el Chaco Árido la actividad productiva más relevante es la cría extensiva de bovinos y caprinos. La fuente principal de alimentación para el ganado son las especies que componen el pastizal natural. La época de lluvias, y por ende de crecimiento de la vegetación, ocurre desde Noviembre hasta Abril. Durante el resto del año (Mayo – Octubre), la vegetación se encuentra en reposo vegetativo y su calidad forrajera disminuye significativamente. En esta región los sistemas ganaderos utilizan distintas razas bovinas, sin embargo se desconoce si los patrones de utilización de las diferentes especies forrajeras de la vegetación nativa son diferente entre dichas razas. En este trabajo se propuso evaluar cómo razas bovinas distintas utilizan el pastizal natural según la distancia a la aguada en momentos del año contrastantes en disponibilidad y calidad forrajera.
